Town 1-0 Newcastle Sat 14th Apr 2001 18:47 An afternoon when more than just a victory was celebrated saw Town get back to third in the table. Town weren’t always at their slick best, as illustrated at Southampton two weeks’ ago, but they did enough to deserve a win over Bobby Robson’s Newcastle side. |
Town 1-1 Liverpool Tue 10th Apr 2001 22:35 A late Alun Armstrong goal gave Town a point in a game they probably should have won. A goalless first half had seen Town the better side but despite a good chance falling to Marcus Stewart the deadlock couldn't be broken. Emile Heskey put Liverpool ahead straight after half-time. |
Houllier Still Angry Tue 10th Apr 2001 10:25 Liverpool manager Gerard Houllier is still angry that Town refused to have tonight's game moved to avoid congestion for the Merseysiders. He has also labelled Town "lucky" after their 1-0 victory at Anfield earlier in the season. |
No Name Change.... Yet Thu 05th Apr 2001 10:04 Town have denied that Portman Road is set to change name, although they have admitted it has been discussed and that it could change in the future. Yesterday it was reported that as part of a new sponsorhip deal Portman Road would be named after the sponsors. The report also said that Greene King had been priced out of the market. |
More Ballot Tickets for Liverpool Wed 04th Apr 2001 18:26 Town have confirmed that they will have extra seats available in the South Stand for this season's remaining games. Yesterday the stand was seen by safety inspectors and the club have now been given permission to seat fans in the new tier. |
New Academy Sponsor Wed 04th Apr 2001 14:07 Town's Academy has a new sponsor for the rest of this season and the next. They are Pritt who have already been involved in the sponsorship of Town's Media Centre this season. The youngsters will wear the Pritt name on their shirts for this Thursday's FA Youth Cup game with Arsenal. |
More on Hat-tricks Tue 03rd Apr 2001 12:22 Marcus Stewart's hat-trick was Town's first in the Premiership ever and takes his goal tally to 20 for the season, 18 in the League. The previous Town hat-trick was Jim Magilton's in the play-off semi-final against Bolton last season. |
Saints 0-3 Town Mon 02nd Apr 2001 23:06 A fabulous Marcus Stewart hat-trick gave Town the points as the Blues dominated from virtually start to finish. Town went in one-up at the break and added two more in the second half. In truth it could have been many, many more against a Southampton side clearly reeling from the departure of Glenn Hoddle. |
Naylor to Return Fri 30th Mar 2001 14:11 Town striker Richard Naylor may be back sooner than we thought and is looking to next week's reserve game with West Ham. Naylor had two operations last summer for his tendinitis problem, but not long afterwards broke his leg. |
Sheepy on TV Tonight Tue 27th Mar 2001 17:07 After last night's appearance on TV from Bobby Robson tonight sees David Sheepshanks take to the limelight. The Town chairman is featured in the third programme in the series The Men Who Changed Football. |
